Objective

Qualifying staff for managing Natura 2000 sites

Measures

• 5 days training, including excursion to a site proposed for Natura 2000

• Focus on relevant databases and other specifications in management, on establishment, development, processing and actualisation of management plans and impact assessment according Art. 6 of the Habitats Directive

Benchmarks

• Training on managing Natura 2000 sites carried out

• Management practices communicated

• Applicability of management practices in Turkey discussed

Objective

Transposition of provisions of European legislation on nature protection into national legislation

Measures

• Assistance in drafting legislation

• Required measures will be identified in close cooperation with the ministry of environment

Benchmarks

• Measures for transposing of EU Directives into Turkish law will be identified

• Depending on the measures, will be defined in due course of the project

Implementation of the Natura 2000 network and sustainable and effective management of Natura 2000 sites

• Assistance in drafting guidelines for sustainable nature protection management

• Elaboration of guidelines for the implementation of the Natura 2000 network

• Elaboration of guidelines for the management of the Natura 2000 sites

• Formulation of guidelines for the management of databases in the field of nature protection (administration of datasets, question of support, updates)

• Formulation of guidelines on the principles of habitat mapping
